Late one night. Problems with editing content. SHAZZAAAM! Local!
There is no other app that I have found that works this well… It works so well at downloading and structuring any webpage for offline use. L o v e i t
I needed something to create mockups of websites for clients that I could distribute locally, and bought this on a whim to download my sites. It works perfectly, including scripts, animations, and all other file inclusions. I’ll update this review if I find anything the app unexpectedly struggles with, but it’s been rock solid so far! Recommended!
I don’t use this app often, but when I need it, I *really* need it — and it works perfectly. I spend a lot of time troubleshooting websites built by other people, and the ability to download the website to get hands-on with it is worth much more than the price of this app. It’s saved me many hours of frustration.
Tried to use it with a site that I have to login. Made sure to set it so that it does not ignore the login pages but nothing happens, the app saves one page and then just stops!
Thanks for such a useful app! It is really, really great! I use it for few years and it saves my time over and over again.
I am unable to get the app to work with El Capitan at all. Download does nothing, even for sites requiring no authentication. For authenticated sites, the Control - Browser menu option does seem to allow me to login to a site I want to archive, but does nothing once the “Download” button is clicked even if I change the identity of the app to a common browser. Wish this worked!
I’ve been using this app for years and until now I’ve been happy with it. When I saw there was a newer release available, I updated to keep current. Big mistake! As soon as I upgraded, the app crashed and I was not able to remedy the problem. It just hangs. I contacted the author and indicated that I had just upgraded to the latest version and that every time I try to load it, I got the message Not responding and I have to force quit.” His response was: "If youre using SiteSucker versions 2.7.4 or 2.7.5 on OS X 10.9.x Mavericks, SiteSucker locks up under certain conditions. A new version of SiteSucker (2.7.6) is now available in the Mac App Store that should fix this problem. If youre having problems with SiteSucker version 2.7.6, please tell me what operating system youre using and the address of site that is giving you problems, and Ill look into it. YES… I did already tell him I had just upgraded (version 2.7.6). And YES… I’m not able to give him the address of a site that was giving me problems because the app won’t start. His final suggest? “Try googling app store refund’.” Go figure.
Thanks so much for a great application! I recently had to take down a site, and wanted to archive it. Did a quick search and I am so glad that your app came up. I LOVE a user interface that does EXACTLY what is needed without fuss. I had what I needed in seconds. Wishing you great success for contributing a valuable tool to the web community!!! best, -john
I work on several web projects that sometimes don’t have the best test coverage. This app helps fill in these gaps. I can just point SiteSucker at my local development copy (typically exposed by pow, managed by Anvil). SiteSucker alerts me to problem areas (like RoutingErrors, for example) when migrating versions of Rails, which saves me a lot of time.
Have just downloaded the app and used it to copy my website to my computer. It was super fast and worked just as promised. Many thanks for such a good and cheap app.
I had to take down a website but I wanted to archive it first. Sitesucker did the job by storing a local copy with all the links and images intact. The local copy does not require Sitesucker to launch. Good stuff and a good price. Thanks!
Love this app, have used it a ton to retrieve assets from certain sites. I wish that it worked on my clients old Wix sites. Any chance you can look into adding that functionality?
Thiis worked just how I hoped it would, and was lightning-fast at it too (though I suppose that may somewhat more about my internet connection that it says about SiteSucker). At any rate, great app. No wacky UI BS, works great!
If the site has a login it doesn’t allow you to ownload the site even if you know the access. failed with error code 503 (service unavailable)
Documented on their site to be fair, but doesn’t download any image linked to by javascript - which is most of the web these days - therefore - not worth it at all. Go for blue crab instead.
As a trial lawyer, I often need to preserve a party’s web site, so as to be able to document what they were saying to the public in advance of litigation. This tool makes it easy to capture a site in its entirety, and reproduce individual pages as if the web site was running just the way it was at the time of the download. Richard (the developer) was very helpful in walking us through (and creating) settings that allowed us to pull a couple of thousand documents down in minutes - when it would have taken days to do it by hand. Great Support, above and beyond the call.
SiteSucker is easy enough to use right away and has enough options to specify exactly what to download. This is especially useful to get exactly what you need, and to avoid downloading too many extraneous files. It’s fast!
Rick, you’re a stud. THanks - you’ve made my life so much easier. ……Frequently updated and works phenomenally! To the developer, I truly appreciate the time and effort you’ve dedicated to this app.
