I wasted $5. Wish I never bought this program. I needed a backup of my website. Didn’t download the complete site. Worthless. I would have done a better job downloading each page individually.

I have successfully stored seven years of a family blog site with this app. Thanks very much to the developer. I initially had trouble with some pictures downloading properly since I was using a SquareSpace site. After asking the dev for assistance he made recomendations for the download settings and also put out a new version that would solve the SquareSpace issues. That is definitely going above and beyond. Thank you!
Figured I’d better not ignore the robots.txt warning so I didn’t get to really use it.
I purchased this app, downloaded, fired up, and entered a website address per the online support manual. Pressed the ‘download’ button, and a brief flicker of life appeared in the status bar… and then nothing. No files downloaded, no files remaining, no errors… just *crickets*. This is for a website that is full of rich content, photos, etc in the subpages. I reviewed the support manual, but I didn’t see any troubleshooting or guidance that would help. Perhaps I’m missing something, but as of now: SiteSucker gives me zero value, and I’m hoping for a refund.
So this app is amazing. I’m going to school to be a web developer and I love this app! I am able to download a site and see how the css and javascript work with the html!!!! NO longer do I need to copy and paste from the resources window which can be long and arduous. NOTE: It will not download a site that has a “robots.txt” file in it. All you haters out there: that’s what robot files do silly! It will also not download PHP files. No one can download PHP files!!! 5 Starts well deserved all around
I’m a rather novice user to regex and applescript, so it was a pleasant surprise when I contacted Rick Cranisky with a question about how to best use the product and he responded within 24 hours with a complete script and strategy for completing the task I had been assigned. Amazing! Usually I would give this 4 out of 5 stars, because the app itself did require the use of Applescript to automate the download of multiple pages from within one site (e.g. a range of pages). But with Rick’s amazing support, I simply had to give this 5 stars. Ask a question about the product and get a customized applescript file and sitesucker file that does exactly what I needed it too? Amazing! Thank you Rick!
I have a MediaWiki site and I found out the host is closing down. Panic time, all that work, all that data… What the heck was I suppose to do. A Google search lead me directly to this applications and it worked!!! I had to use the browser mode to be able to login to the site, and once I had that figured out it “just worked.” I am one happy camper. Thank your SiteSucker for allowing me to archive hundreds of hours of work.
The app downloaded just the top level files and nothing else! Why pay $$ for that I can simply save the page from the File Save menu.
This is a very good app, and Rick’s customer support is excellent.
I’ve been using this occasionally for the last eight years or so! Always worked perfect for me. Thanks Rick!
This program has saved me so many hours of learning about curl, wget, etc. Sorry, I’m sure that I should have spent (more) time trying to figure out how to do all sorts of amazing things with a terminal window. Maybe when I retire I’ll work on it. In the meantime, this is such a simple, elegant, solution for those of us who need to save an offline version of a website. Thanks so much for creating this! One fantastic feature is the ability to open up a browser window and download directly from within that window. This is a godsend for those sites that have somewhat convoluted login procedures.
Instead of backing up our website at the hosting company, I wanted an easy way to make a copy of the site as backup. We have Fiber 100mb internet in our home, and it backed up so fast that the server thought it was an attack and shut down. We changed the settings so it would copy slower. Setting the delay to 1.0 seconds appears to have fixed it. I would give it five stars if I could Pause and change some settings like “delay”. If it locks up again I would like to be able to try 2 seconds etc. without starting over. Otherwise it is a 4.4 as is. Of course we didn’t tell our host what we were doing...
I am so very glad I found this app. Ive been trying to save all the blog posts I wrote about my daughters first few years of life and its been a tedious, time consuming effort. Then I found this app and it did it for me in just a few minutes. Highly recommended!
A new client for whom I am designing a website just emailed asking me to “capture” a website that she was letting expire because much of the text content will be repurposed for her new website. Who knows how much back and forth it would have taken to get the ftp info from her. Instead of even bothering to ask, I did a quick search and am grateful to have found this handy little app. Within less than 2 mins I had the app downloaded & her entire site saved into a folder on my computer. It’s actually taking me longer to write the review, haha. Well worth the >$5.
If youre looking for an app to download websites that... 1. Works every time 2. Is easy to figure out, but also has good docs 3. Does not require knowledge of archaic html terminology just to start it up 4. Is the best... You found it right here! Ive tried a lot of these types of programs over the years to see if by chance there was something better. But you know what? There are none better than SiteSucker. Ive been using the free version for many years and have received friendly help and suggestions from the developer, Rick, several times. I dont know what the difference is between this version and the one Ive been using (until today), but I figured the least I could do was make the purchase. The app itself has already saved me way more than 1000 xs the $4.00 price tag. (only 4 dollars?) Ive been running a web development and hosting company for the past 19 years. I cant tell you how many times this app has saved by butt and made me come out looking like a genius for retrieving an old site for a customer whos previous developer has disappeared and now doesnt have a clue on how to gain back the control of it. There are so many excellent features but the one I appreciate the most is the localization. It will take a site coded in php or any other language, and it deliver it to your Mac as a functioning html website. It may not have some of the functionality of the original coding language but you still have the complete site, images, content, links and all, right there on your desktop. Ive been using it quite a bit lately to convert traditionally coded sites to WordPress and it saves me hours and hours. Take it from someone with a ton of experience... SiteSucker is your best choice!
I’m glad I bought this, it works as advertised.
This is one of those Mac Apps, like BBEdit, that Ive been using since the 1990s. It continues to work when you need it and has saved lots of time when customers need a disc based export of their site, or for legal discovery purposes.
Googled “Download Website Mac”. Top result: SiteSucker. Bought and installed, downloaded the site I wanted. Elapsed time: 1 minute. Errors: None. Cost: reasonable. 10/10 would recommend.
This has always worked well, from the free older versions to this App Store version 2.6.2. I don’t know of a better application that does what this does so specially.
This is an incredibly awesome tool. I first found SiteSucker when it was on v2.4.6 and it was free. It has worked flawlessly. I just updated to v2.6.2 and am happy to pay for the update. It is worth much more, and I would have gladly paid more than the $4.99 asking price. This is no "one trick pony". I am using SiteSucker a little differently than most. I am a webmaster and I do all of my site developement work locally using a CMS (Content Management System). As you fellow webmasters know, a good CMS is critically important and imperative to good productivity. But a CMS can be sloooooow when it is running on your remote server and a “flat file” website will run/load like lightning. I use SiteSucker to create a local “flat file” version of my site that I upload to my remote server. You just can’t get a site to run/load any faster. Keep up the great work Rick.
